This amused me (about truth's relationship to me)

On Facebook there's been a fair amount of jackoff nonsense on a couple of unschooling discussion pages, with people stirring up 100+ response topics and then deleting all or some of the discussion. So I'm bringing this here before it goes down someone's drain. The guy I quote and was responding to already pulled all of his stuff after being a butt to many nice unschoolers who were voluntarily offering years of experience.

a guy wrote: ‎-=@Sandra. Just because you say it does not make it true. -=-

Sandra Dodd: You're right. If something is true, it isn't true *just* because I say it.

good response. This type of 'jackassing' is one of the main reasons why I left FB. I saw too many useless arguments going way too far. and in real life you can't just delete something you've said. Once you've said it you have to own it. What happens on FB is artifical and at times infuriating because of this. It just wasn't a healthy place for me :)

I'm telling you, if I could bottle up even half of your intelligent and witty responses and save them for a day when I needed one, I'd consider myself a rich girl! I always enjoy your posts.

Aw, shucks; thanks. :-)

The "just" part was that his insulting arguments were about what the unschoolers were "just" recommending. I pointed out that it wasn't "just" anything, but he was insisting on using "just" repeatedly.

It's a good and useful word, but can also be used in put-downs. I'm just sayin'. :-)

Yes, Channi, I also left Facebook for the same reasons. So much negativity brewing there and I believe that much of it has to do with precisely what you mentioned in your post: lack of accountability.

Thanks for sharing this, Sandra. I am glad that you are able to capture these snippets before they get flushed down the cyberdrain.

I lifted this same quote and have it saved on my computer. =D I liked it and didn't want it lost.
